Craftman’s Occupational Safety Card Training Offers Flexibility for an International Workforce

When employees are needed quickly for construction and industrial projects, the required qualifications must also be easy to arrange. Craftman Oy uses multilingual Occupational Safety Card training provided through Trainify’s Työturvakortit.fi service to train its employees through a blended learning model. Flexible training schedules, straightforward registration and the ability to accommodate the language needs of an international workforce have become key elements of the cooperation.

Craftman Oy is a Finnish company specializing in workforce resourcing and staffing services, particularly for companies operating in the construction and industrial sectors. The company employs, among others, Finnish and Polish workers for a wide range of projects.

The cooperation between Craftman and Trainify began in February 2026. As new employees regularly need training, speed, flexibility and a smooth practical process are especially important when arranging Occupational Safety Card training.

Polish-language materials support learning

A significant proportion of Craftman’s international workforce is Polish-speaking. One of the key starting points for the cooperation was therefore to find a way to support participants in understanding the Occupational Safety Card training content in their own native language.

Trainify’s Occupational Safety Card training is delivered entirely remotely using a hybrid learning model. Participants first complete half of the required training hours independently in the Trainify learning app. The second half is then completed in a live webinar led by a trainer approved by the Centre for Occupational Safety (TTK). This reduces the amount of time spent in live online training with an instructor by half compared with a traditional full-day course.

To meet Craftman’s needs, a Polish-language version of Trainify’s self-study materials was created. The learning programme completed in the app includes six courses, more than 45 lessons, exercises throughout the courses and a final test.

Thanks to the Polish-language materials, Craftman employees can study key occupational safety topics in their native language before participating in the English-language live webinar. The official TTK Occupational Safety Card examination can also be completed in Polish.

The importance of studying in one’s native language is particularly evident in safety training. An employee’s English skills may be perfectly sufficient for everyday work, but safety-related terminology, responsibilities and detailed instructions can often be understood more thoroughly when first studied in their native language.

“It makes a significant difference. Even if employees also speak English, being able to complete part of the training in their native language helps them develop a broader and deeper understanding of the important safety matters they encounter on site,” explains Craftman’s Chief Administrative Officer Christian Filist.

Registration has been made as easy as possible for Craftman

When new employees regularly move into new projects and training needs can arise at short notice, having a reliable training partner makes day-to-day operations easier. Craftman does not need to spend time managing individual registrations or coordinating training arrangements, as the required information can be submitted centrally to Trainify’s Työturvakortit.fi team.

Craftman simply provides the required participant details and the preferred training date. Trainify’s customer service team then takes care of enrolling the participants and handling the practical arrangements.

In addition to regularly scheduled training sessions, Trainify has also been able to arrange training at times specifically requested by Craftman. A training session can be opened for general registration, allowing other participants to join as well. This provides a flexible solution in situations where a company only has a few employees to train and arranging a fully private session would not be practical.

Craftman has also experienced the flexibility of the cooperation in practice:

“Registration for the training has been flexible and solution-oriented. In most cases, a solution has been found even for urgent training needs, and when there hasn’t been an immediate solution available, one has been created,” Filist says.

A smooth training process helps employees move into new projects

The cooperation is built around a combination of factors that have proved important in practice: training is available regularly, registration is simple for the customer, urgent and exceptional scheduling needs are handled as flexibly as possible, and the language needs of an international workforce can be taken into account as part of the training.

“With Craftman, it has been important to find a solution that works both from a scheduling perspective and for an international workforce. We have been able to respond flexibly to their needs and provide training even when the requirement has arisen at short notice. At the same time, we have aimed to make the entire process as easy as possible for them,” says Nenne Bäckmann, Customer Service Manager at Trainify.

This helps ensure that obtaining the necessary occupational safety qualifications remains as smooth as possible, even when employees are needed for new projects at short notice.
